DeSoto Parish Police Jury Office of Community Services (OCS) provides a variety of opportunities for low-income households to increase their household stability and self-sufficiency levels by providing clients with emergency services such as food, shelter and safety from the elements and abusive, life threatening situations.

Additional non-emergency services we provide help our clients become self-sufficient such as education and employment opportunities, financial help (family budgeting classes, tuition assistance). Family stability services such as weatherization, utility, clothing and counseling services in addition to Section-8 housing, emergency shelter and Veteran’s services.
The DeSoto Parish Police Jury Office of Community Services is announcing the availability of funds dedicated to assist eligible low-income households in DeSoto and Sabine Parish.
DESOTO PARISH: This call is for non-crisis assistance. This is not for disconnect notices. Call 318-872-0880 or 1-800-872-0889 on October 31st for an appointment. Our office will be accepting calls at 8:00 A.M. No calls will be accepted before 8:00 A.M. You must speak to a representative to place your name on the list for an appointment. Funding is limited, and appointments are first come, first served. We will be accepting the first 50 callers. If you have already received a cooling benefit this year and or have a credit on your electric bill, you are not eligible at this time.
SABINE PARISH: This call is for non-crisis assistance. Call 318-872-0880 or 1-800-872-0889 on November 1st, 2023. Our office will be accepting calls at 8:00 A.M. No calls will be accepted before 8:00 A.M. Funding is limited, and appointments are first come, first served. If you have already received a cooling benefit this year you are not eligible at this time.
An eligible household is one whose total income is at or below the levels listed in the table below.
