    The DeSoto Parish Police Jury is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions:                  



    Heavy Equipment Operator I Rate of Pay:  $20.55 - $30.82


    Information/Description


    Qualifications


    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. 

    • Two years of related training and/or experience in operating heavy equipment, preferably in the maintenance and construction of roads. 

    • Possess a valid Driver’s License, CDL preferred.

    • Understanding of job site safety procedures.

    • Capacity to provide and follow directions.

    • Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.

    • Ability to work extended hours, as required.



    Heavy Equipment Operator II Rate of Pay:  $23.36 - $35.04


    Information/Description


    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. 

    • Three years of related training and/or experience in operating heavy equipment, preferably in the maintenance and construction of roads. 

    • Thorough understanding of practices involved in the use of several types of heavy equipment.

    • Thorough understanding of maintenance and basic repairs associated with heavy equipment.

    • Thorough understanding of safety rules and ability to safely operate machinery.

    • Superior skill operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently.

    • Possess a valid Driver’s License, CDL preferred.

    • Specialized diesel knowledge required.



    Class “A” Driver Rate of Pay:  $17.87 - $26.80


    Information/Description


    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required.

    • Two years of related training and/or experience, preferably in the maintenance and construction of roads and/or solid waste collection operations. 

    • Possess a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License, with necessary endorsements.



    Equipment Operator   Rate of Pay:  $11.96 - $17.94

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. 

    • Ability to follow instructions

    • One year of related training and/or experience in operating light duty equipment, preferably in the maintenance and construction of roads. 

    • Possess a valid Driver’s License.
