Michael Rister P.E.

Parish Engineer

Michael has 16 years of Civil Engineering experience, where he has served Northwest Louisiana as a Project Engineer for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Michael has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana Tech University and graduated High School from North DeSoto High School. As a Project Engineer with LADOTD Michael worked primarily with projects through the construction phases, from bidding to completion. While working with LADOTD Michael has had the opportunity to manage a wide variety of projects that range from new interstate construction projects, rehabilitation projects and numerous overlays, bridge repairs, turn lanes, roundabouts, and traffic signal projects.
Michael was born and raised in DeSoto Parish and currently resides in Frierson, LA with his wife and two children. Michael has previously served DeSoto Parish as a board member of the Waterworks District #1 water system, a board member for Fire District 9 and is a member of the DeSoto Parish Planning Commission. Michael is as a Deacon at Salem Baptist Church and is actively involved in the Beef Cattle Industry.   
Michael began serving as the Parish Engineer on August 14, 2023 and is looking forward to the opportunity to be able to serve in his home parish and help DeSoto Parish build and prosper.
